Make a Custom Pet Ornament (Pick Your Date/Time) - Laser Cutting/Engraving & Ornament Making Class

This is a beginner-friendly laser cutting and engraving class where you will learn how to cut/engrave both acrylic and birch plywood with the Glowforge in our makerspace to make your own, custom pet ornament!* Your finished ornament will be approximately 3.5 to 4 inches wide depending on the design you choose.

*If you'd like a pet memorial ornament, we can customize the design to include a year range and/or wings in the engraving*

What's included:

-All materials and equipment needed to create your ornament including your choice of 25+ acrylic sheet colors, birch plywood, ribbon, access to our laser machine and design software, plus glue and tools to assist in your ornament assembly.

-About a 1 hour class where we will guide you from start to finish on how to use and customize a multi-layered SVG file to cut your designs with the Glowforge and how to assemble your ornament.

Class size: This class is a one-on-one class unless you'd like to take the class with a buddy. If you'd like to come with a buddy, purchase two classes and book your hours back to back. If you'd like to take this as a group class, please email us at hello@makeormaderva.com for instructions on how to book (a class of 4 to 6 usually takes about 2.5 to 3 hours).

When: You get to pick the time you'd like to take the class using our scheduling system. After purchase, go to the makerspace scheduler, select "Glowforge Laser" (this is the machine we'll be using to make your ornament), and book whatever time you'd like to come in. This class usually takes one hour, so book the Glowforge Laser for 1 hour. If you want to come with a buddy, the class may take up to two hours, so book one hour each, back to back, but arrive together!

Where: At our makerspace located at 2100 W Cary St #101 Richmond, VA on the corner of Rowland and Cary St in The Fan. Street parking is available along both streets. Keep an eye out for street cleaning times when parking.

What you'll need: Just yourself!

What if you have more than one pet?: You can either purchase another class or sign up to be an hourly makerspace member and make more ornaments on your own time! You'll leave with the knowledge on how to make these and all the supplies and equipment used is available in the store. Makerspace hours are the same as our operating hours, and we're always here to help if you have questions!
